Ranked also known as Ranked Play is the serious side of Play mode , with players being able to earn special ranks to reflect their prowess in battle and gain lucrative rewards every season. The two Ranked ladders each consist of five leagues i. Each league is made up of 10 ranks, and players climb through these ranks by winning matches and gaining stars. Different from these two Ranked ladders, new players to Hearthstone play in a special beginner’s ladder called the Apprentice League in which there are 40 ranks.
Ranked play occurs in seasons , each a month long. During a season, many rewards are handed out to players who participate in Ranked ladder, including the Highest Rank Bonus chest at the end of the season, season card backs , first-time Ranked rewards, and golden heroes. There are 40 new player ranks , 50 regular ranks , and a prestigious Legend rank above all other ranks.

What the hell is going on with Hearthstone’s matchmaking?
Also the fact that you’re not matched to equally ranked players frustrates your effort to climb the ladder as an occasional player who does not play so often.
Lastly, The Legend rank will continue to work just as it does now – an ELO system directly affected by every single game you play versus other Legend-tier players. Hearthstone will continue to use a star system – you gain a star when you win a match and lose a star after a defeat Yu-Gi-Oh! The reward system is also reworked. Just like before, scoring 5 wins in any ranked play mode will award you the seasonal card back to spice up your collection.
There are now brand-new first-time rewards. These are mostly aimed at new players – one-time rewards of Classic packs, Rare and Epic cards, granted right after you hit a ranked floor for the first time on your account. Making it all the way up to Legend for the first time in the new ranked system will grant a random Classic Legendary card.

Okay, as much as I love my games and I sink many hours into side-questing falling off tall buildings and dragon-shouting I can be pretty damn mediocre. To give you some background. Hearthstone matchmaking ranked. How does hearthstone matchmaking work
At the start of this Standard year, the matchmaking changed to favor MMR over ladder position. MMR is a score that Hearthstone maintains for each player behind the scenes that roughly correlates to player skill. As you win, your MMR increases, and as you lose, it decreases.
MMR is in fact tracked during all Ranked Play activity, and it is used whenever matchmaking involves at least one Legend rank.
